Avimor Academy Philosophy
We believe that an early learning environment is a child’s first step into education. At our center, we focus on nurturing the whole child, so they leave here with strong skills and a love of learning. We support healthy eating by serving nutritious foods and building positive habits around mealtimes. We support physical fitness through daily movement, outdoor play, and activities that strengthen gross and fine motor skills. We nurture healthy minds by encouraging curiosity, problem-solving, and creativity. We foster healthy emotions by teaching children to understand and manage their feelings. We guide healthy relationships by modeling kindness, respect, and teamwork. And we nurture healthy hearts by instilling empathy, compassion, and a sense of belonging.
General Center Information
Our center is open from 6:30Am - 6:30PM, Monday thru Friday. We are closed the six (6) major US holidays each year. Tuition credit is not given for observed holiday closures. Our center is proud to include breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack for children. Diapers, wipes, and baby formula are not included with tuition.
Billing & Tuition Collection Policy
Our center collects a $125, non-refundable registration fee, per child, upon enrollment. A seat in our program is not guaranteed until this payment has been made. Each year in August, a $125 materials fee, per child, is collected and applied to the cost of supplies for the coming school year. Tuition is collected every Monday for the week ahead. If tuition has not been paid by Friday, a $10/day late fee will be incurred. After 10 days of no payments, the child’s enrollment will be paused until the full balance is paid. Partial payments will not be accepted.
Visitor Policy
Parents may list as many authorized pickups as desired in our school app, Brightwheel. When someone other than the parent/guardian arrives to pickup a child, they must provide photo ID and their name will be validated with the authorized pickup list. Any person who does not have a child enrolled in our program will be either helped at the vestibule window (i.e., deliveries) or escorted by a staff member (i.e., for tours).
Student Drop Off Information
Our center opens at 6:30AM and breakfast is generally available from 7:00AM - 8:00AM. Please note a limited number of staff are on-site during the initial morning hours but more staff arrive approximately every 1⁄2 hour as more children are dropped off. This is important to note as your child’s teacher may not be on-site early in the morning if you drop off early. We kindly ask that our preschool and pre-k children arrive by 8:30AM to participate in the full day of scheduled activities. Our daily “blackout” period is 11:00AM - 3:00PM. Parents must alert the Director if a child must be picked up during this time. The purpose of this blackout period is to ensure the fewest number of disruptions during sensitive times such as lunch and nap/rest time.
Student Pick Up Information
All students must be picked up by 6:30PM. A $5 per minute fee will be applied to any children who are picked up after 6:30PM. Teachers generally begin leaving around 3:00PM so your child’s teacher may not be on-site when you pickup at the end of the day.
General Health Practices
Our center has the following health protocols in place:
- Frequent handwashing! Handwashing is an active part of our daily schedule for children, especially upon arrival, before/after meals, after outside time, and after arts/crafts activities.
- Our teachers are trained to recognize symptoms of illness and will alert parents immediately if an exclusionary symptom begins at school.
- Children or staff who develop a fever (which will happen!) must remain at home until they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours.
- Daily disinfection and sanitizing of tables and other high-touch surfaces. Our center utilizes a state-of-the-art disinfecting machine, Zono, which kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses on loose items including toys, plastics, cloth, sleep cots, and electronics without the use of harsh liquid chemicals.
- Weekly laundering of crib and cot sheets (or more often if needed). Parents are asked to bring home all blankets and comfort items to launder them weekly.
- Water filtration system for cleaner drinking water.
General Safety Practices
Our center has the following safety protocols in place:
- Our center maintains a 100% “open door” policy for all parents who have children enrolled in our program. Parents are welcome any time of day, however, we kindly ask that you consider how much this may upset a child (generally 2 or younger) to see a parent briefly and then leave again.
- Practicing emergency drills including fire evacuation and lockdown.
- Finger-pinch guards on doors.
- Gate alarms on playground gates.
- Partial doors on student bathrooms to ensure sight and sound monitoring of bathroom activity by teachers.
- Silent alarms that can immediately summon the police in case of emergency.
- Age-appropriate furniture made of quality, non-toxic materials to ensure the safest and best educational experience in the classes.
- Single-touch keypad disabling of exterior doors in case of lockdown emergency.
- High-definition camera monitoring of our entire campus. Camera footage may be reviewed by families with the Director.
- Locked exterior doors are accessible only by private door codes. We ask that families do not share these codes with friends or other authorized pickup persons.
- ID checks on all new persons arriving to our center as authorized pickups.
- Visitor sign-in sheets for tracking of all persons who are not actively enrolled in our center.
- “Name-to-face” tracking of all children in classrooms to verify attendance constantly throughout the day.
- Nearly all classrooms have lower child-to-teacher ratios than required by the state of Idaho.
